Glossary
This glossary contains and explains the DocuMine terminology.
Glossary
- Analysis
DocuMine analyzes documents and extracts the required components based on the rules defined in the applied dossier template.
Changes to the rules and dictionaries trigger an automatic reanalysis.
- Annotation
DocuMine analyzes the document and creates annotations that highlight relevant information. The annotation value (highlighted term) is extracted and becomes the component value, part of the component value, or is transformed into the component value (e.g., the date format of the component may differ from the format in the text).
- Component
Components are the final information outputs constructed from the pieces of information extracted from the document.
Each component value can consist of one or more annotation values (extracted pieces of information highlighted in the document), which may be transformed during the extraction process.
- Dictionary
Dictionaries contain terms to be extracted under certain conditions defined by the rule set. They are contained in the dossier templates.
- Dossier
A dossier is a container that bundles thematically related documents. Documents must be uploaded to dossiers in DocuMine.
- Dossier attribute
Dossier attributes provide supplementary information on dossiers.
- Dossier member
Dossier members are users that have been appointed to work on a dossier. They can review and edit the components that have been extracted from the dossier documents.
- Dossier owner
Dossier owners own and manage a dossier. They can also edit the dossier properties and archive the dossier.
- Dossier template
User perspective: Dossier templates bundle dossiers that apply the same rule set.
Admin perspective: The dossier template contains the ruleset based on which DocuMine extracts components from dossier documents.
- File attributes
File attributes are document-specific metadata like the title, the number of pages, and the document number. They can also serve as filters.
Rules can be designed to be triggered by specific file attribute values.
- Manager
Managers can create dossiers and become dossier owners. Users can only become regular dossier members.
- Report templates
Admins can upload customized extraction report templates. DocuMine generates the respective report upon download by the users.
- Rule
DocuMine applies detection and transformation rules that define which components to extract from documents.
- Workload
The workload lists the annotations that have been created during the analysis and allows the assigned user to review and edit.
